Have you heard the one about the vanishing hitchhiker?  How about the pastor who caught bullets in
his teeth?  Pentecostalism is awash in lies.  Books and sermons are filled with wild tales of miracles,
demonic and angelic manifestations, healings, and deliverances.  The wilder the story, the greater the
applause, and so the tales are spun and spread from church to church like an outbreak of chicken pox.


Like other urban legends, most Pentecostal myths contain no names or locations and so the source cannot be traced.  Most have
been circulating for decades, occasionally updated to include current events that make them appear recent.  All contain a Pentecostal
fire-and-brimstone message to terrify the listener or reinforce Pentecostal superiority.
